Cette conférence hybride rassemble tous ceux qui s’intéressent à l’intelligence artificielle (IA) à savoir : les médecins, chercheurs, scientifiques des données, ingénieurs spécialisés dans l’IA, étudiants en médecine et en informatique en Afrique de l’Ouest. Elle vise d’une part à contribuer à l’amélioration de l’offre de soins de santé en Afrique de l’Ouest en renforçant les connaissances et compétences des participants sur les applications, les opportunités et le potentiel de transformation de l’intelligence artificielle (IA) dans le contexte de soins de santé et d’autre part à faciliter la collaboration entre les chercheurs de l’Afrique de l’Ouest et ceux des USA et du Canada
The conference will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation into French to reach as many people as possible in Africa.

Dr. Aleksander Olech
Director of the European Security Programme at the Institute of New Europe, a specialist in the field of security and international relations
Dr. Aleksander Olech is the Director of the European Security Programme at the Institute of New Europe. He holds a PhD in security studies. He is a specialist in the field of security and international relations. He graduated from the European Academy of Diplomacy and War Studies University. He has undertaken research at several international institutions, among others, the Université Jean Moulin III in Lyon, the Institute of International Relations in Prague, the Institute for Peace Support and Conflict Management in Vienna, the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in Vilnius, and the NATO Centre of Excellence Defence Against Terrorism in Ankara. Scholarship holder of the OSCE & UNODA Peace and Security Programme, the NATO 2030 Global Fellowship, and the Casimir Pulaski Foundation. His main research interests include terrorism, international cooperation for security in Eastern Europe, and the role of NATO and the E.U. with regard to hybrid threats. He has written scientific articles related to terrorism, and A.I. Ha has recently also published a book” Fight against terrorism.”

Professor of statistics at the Center of Data Science, Zhejiang University (China)
Dr. Andre Python is the ZJU100 young professor of statistics at the Center of Data Science, Zhejiang University. His first degree was in Geography (University of Fribourg, Switzerland). He completed his PhD in Statistics in 2017 (University of St Andrews, UK), applying a Bayesian spatio-temporal geostatistical model to capture fine-scale patterns of non-state terrorism worldwide. From 2018 to 2020, He worked as postdoctoral research scientist in geospatial epidemiology in the Malaria Atlas Project at the Big Data Institute, University of Oxford.
His current research interests are in extending geostatistical models to assess the risk of global threats such as contagious diseases, terrorism or armed conflict in space and time. In line with the objectives and philosophy of the Royal Statistical Society, He believes that statistics and data have a key role in society. His academic research aims to provide evidence-based results to help decision-makers use statistics effectively in the public interest.
He is the author of a new book (2021) “Debunking Seven Terrorism Myths Using Statistics.”

Nitesh V. Chawla is the Frank M. Freimann Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He is the Founding Director of the Lucy Family Institute for Data and Society. He has also served as the Center for Network and Data Science Director. He is a Fellow of IEEE. Chawla, who joined the Notre Dame faculty in 2007, is an expert in artificial intelligence, data science, and network science and is motivated by the question of how technology can advance the common good through interdisciplinary research. As such, his research is not only at the frontier of fundamental methods and algorithms but is also making interdisciplinary advances through collaborations with faculty at Notre Dame and community, national, and international partners.

Dr. Dinesh C. Verma is an IBM Fellow and IBM Research Chief Scientist for Research Consulting Program with a focus on Public Sector. He received his undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1987 and my doctorate degree from University of California, Berkeley in 1991. He also has a degree in Management of Technology from NYU Polytechnic. He is an IEEE Fellow, and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, U.K.
He joined IBM Research in 1992 and has worked on various projects related to autonomic computing, policy-based networking, network science, mobile networks and wireless networks, the Internet of Things, and Cognitive Computing.
He served as the U.S. Principal Investigator for the International Technology Alliance in Network Sciences from 2006-2016. I served as the U.S. Principal Investigator for the International Technology Alliance in Distributed Analytics from 2016-2021. In addition, he has authored eleven technical books based on my research work at IBM.

Gartner’s interdisciplinary, multi-method, research focuses on great power conflict, international security, war and politics, counter-terrorism, conflict mediation and policy assessment and is both impactful and well cited. Gartner’s publications include Costly Calculations: A Theory of War, Casualties, and Politics, Strategic Assessment in War, International Conflict Mediation: New Approaches and Findings and The Historical Statistics of the United States, in addition to articles in top journals in political science, sociology, international affairs, national security, history, military intelligence, public policy, international negotiations, and communications. His honors include the Jefferson award for the best government resource, the RUSA Outstanding Reference Award, Booklist Editor’s Choice Award, Library Journal Best Reference Award, History News Network Book of the Month and the American Political Science Association’s best policy thesis award. He is past president of the International Studies Association (West) and served as a Senior Advisor for the Net Assessment of Violent Non-State Actors for a U.S. intelligence agency. Gartner’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Security Agency, The National Counter Terrorism Center, the Folke Bernadotte Academy, the Department of Defense, the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy and the Sloan foundation. Gartner’s op-ed columns have been published in The Huffington Post, USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, The Baltimore Sun, and many other outlets. He holds a PhD. and MA in Political Science from the University of Michigan, and BA in History and MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago.
